Fljótsdalur HI Hostel

With over 50 years of history as a HI Hostel, this former farmhouse overlooks the infamous Eyjafjallajökull glacier. Lovingly renovated, Fljótsdalur provides the perfect haven to unwind in the quiet countryside while also being a short drive from popular sights like Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss. The house can be considered simple in modern times- the shower is in the garden and there is no wifi. However, it is impossible to get bored, with a variety of walks in the area and a collection of over 2000 books on Iceland, mostly in English.

Fljótsdalur is unable to take card payments- please bring cash.

In the area:

• Fljótsdalur is just across the river from Þórsmörk, famous for its diverse landscape and hikes. It is also situated right at the end of the Laugavegur trail, making it the ideal place to relax after a long hike.
• In between Selfoss and Vik, it makes for a great evening stop.
• Popular sights such as Skógarfoss, Eyjafjallajökull, and Seljavallalaug are just around the corner.
